The goal of this project was to improve the exchange of knowledge between students. During this project it came apparent that helping and teaching each other is an act that looks a lot like trading. Why would one help another? You better ask the question: 'When would someone help another?'. It's a simple rule. You give something, for example knowledge. What you get back does not necessarily mean you have to get something like that back. No, the satisfaction you get from helping one can be enough to help.
But how do you connect students who do not know each other but might require help from each other? The TwitnicTable offers a low-threshold solution. This low threshold is very important for the succes of this concept, since people do not want to sign up for another account and download another app for their smartphone. They just can tweet to the table and receive replys and hopefully help in the end.
The final concept would have LED's integrated in the wooden surface. However, this was too expensive for our final size prototype, so we went with a projection to simluate the interaction. The small size prototype however shows the technique with the LED's we would've used.
This concept got quite a buzz. It featured Yanko Design, BitRebels, over 200 retweets and over 20.000 hits on youtube!
